The best part of all is that children actually like playing on them.
Over the years I have tried to get them in different colours and patterns that might appeal to children.
In the end I decided to make them myself and try them out in the clinic.
Several parents have asked where to get them so I have set up an on-line shop where you can send in an order.

Bracing For Hypermobility Disorder Subluxations
July 22nd, 2009 by Natalie | Click to leave a comment »Eighteen months ago I saw an eleven year old girl with chronic repetitive hip subluxations bursitis. She suffers from benign joint hypermobility disorder.
She was treated with a gluteus medius and pelvic stability exercise program but was still experiencing significant hip issues.
She wore a spiral thigh brace for two to three months. During that time she noticed significant reduction in subluxations and greatly improved balance and stability subjectively and objectively.

The Role of The Thigh Brace To Assist Walking
July 21st, 2009 by Natalie | Click to leave a comment »I recently worked with a young girl with cerebral palsy that was causing right side paralysis and jerky athetoid movements.
When walking she would veer to one side and her legs would scissor (cross over) excessively.
By using a thigh brace she was able to walk in a fairly straight line with considerably reduced leg scissoring.
She told me she felt more balanced and I could see how much more confident her movement was.
The role of the brace is to provide extra stability. That, together with a program of strengthening exercises, may enable her improved movement to become permanent.
